US Triestina Calcio 1918 è lieta di comunicare di aver affidato la guida tecnica della prima squadra a Michele Santoni.
Santoni, classe ’80, nell’ultima stagione ha guidato il Dordrecht in seconda divisione olandese ed inizierà il proprio percorso con la Triestina a partire dal 1° luglio, legandosi all’Unione con un accordo di durata biennale con opzione per un’ulteriore stagione.
Il nuovo mister alabardato ha acquisito esperienza muovendo i primi passi come allenatore in Olanda nella formazione Under 19 dell’Haarlem. Dall’estate 2009 al gennaio 2014 ha ricoperto il ruolo di video analyst nell’Ajax, mettendo in bacheca quattro scudetti sotto le gestioni di Frank De Boer e Martin Jol.
Rientrato in Italia, ha vissuto un triennio come viceallenatore a Livorno, Cesena e Milano sponda Inter, rispettivamente accanto a Davide Nicola, Domenico Di Carlo e nuovamente Frank De Boer. Successivamente è passato alla Lazio, guidando le formazioni Under 17 e Under 19, prima di una nuova esperienza in Serie A come vice al Cagliari, guidato da Diego Lopez nella stagione 2017/18.
Dall’estate 2018 ha fatto ritorno in Olanda con esperienze sulle panchine di Almere City, Ado Den Haag come vice di Aleksandar Rankovic e nell’ultimo triennio in seconda serie con il Dordrecht, condotto nella stagione 2023/24 al quarto posto con conseguente raggiungimento dei playoff promozione.
US Triestina Calcio 1918 are pleased to announce that Michele Santoni has been appointed as first team manager.
Santoni, 44, most recently managed Dordrecht in the Dutch second division. He will begin his tenure with Triestina from 1 July, having signed a two-year contract with the club, with an option for one additional year.
Santoni began his career in the Netherlands with Haarlem’s Under 19 team, and, from the summer of 2009 to January 2014, he served as a video analyst at Ajax, contributing to four league titles under the management of Frank De Boer and Martin Jol.
After returning to Italy, Santoni spent three years as an assistant coach at Livorno, Cesena, and Inter Milan, working alongside Davide Nicola, Domenico Di Carlo, and once again Frank De Boer, respectively. He then joined Lazio, where he managed the Under 17 and Under 19 teams, before taking on a first-team role in Serie A as the assistant to Diego Lopez at Cagliari in the 2017/18 season.
Since the summer of 2018, Santoni has returned to the Netherlands, with coaching experiences at Almere City, at ADO Den Haag as assistant to Aleksandar Rankovic, and, in the past three seasons, at Dordrecht in the second division, guiding them to a fourth-place finish and achieving promotion playoffs in the 2023/24 season.
